Context and needs

Banca Carige – Cassa di Risparmio di Genova e Imperia – is an Italian bank that heads the Banca Carige Group and boasts 503 banking branches spread across much of the national territory and over one million customers.

Over the years, Banca Carige has embraced the challenge of digitalization by relying on various Microsoft technologies: from Windows to Office, from Active Directory to Forefront Identity Management, from Hyper-V to the entire System Center suite, from SQL Server to BizTalk, culminating in the use of SharePoint as the basis for its intranet. The adoption of these innovative technologies and the desire to keep their systems always up-to-date led Banca Carige to seek a competent Managed Service Provider that could take charge of managing the IT infrastructure.

Solution and Technology

SoftJam was chosen as a partner by Banca Carige to provide technical support for the management of workstations, both at an infrastructural and application level, particularly regarding the intranet and applications developed by third parties on this platform.

The first step was the updating and securing of all systems using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), monitoring them with the System Center Operation Manager (SCOM), and backing up data from the headquarters and branches with various System Center Data Protection Manager (SCDPM) farms. The Managed Services team then provided second-level assistance on all installed SQL and managed the printing from DB2 databases with the help of Microsoft BizTalk Server (a system still in use).

Furthermore, SoftJam successfully supported the client in the migration, integration, and testing of development environments in Microsoft Azure Cloud, thanks to their deep knowledge of the systems and their criticalities.
